Amarillo Medical Specialists is no longer in-network with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’ Blue Choice PPO and Blue Essentials networks as of May 1, 2026, although they remain in the Medicare Advantage network.
BCBS of Texas is recommending that patients seek other service providers in the area. Steps for finding options are available on their member microsite. They also state that they are open to continuing negotiations.
However, Amarillo Medical Specialists is saying that the last communication on the matter was on April 17, 2026, when BCBS of Texas told them that the negotiation process was taking longer than expected due to some internal staffing changes. Emails have received acknowledgments but not responses.
Regardless, at this point, claims for services rendered on or after May 1 are being treated as out-of-network.
