Michigan Medicine and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan reached a new, long-term contract Wednesday morning after months of negotiations.

Before the deal, months of gridlock between the parties prompted BCBSM to recommend that 250,000 patients receiving care from Michigan Medicine seek an alternate provider.

The two organizations will continue meeting over the coming weeks to finalize details of the new agreement, in anticipation of a June 30 renewal date. Final terms of the contract will remain proprietary between the two organizations.

Patients should experience no service disruptions.
