Providence Health & Services and Cigna have reached an agreement, but it is unclear whether this is a temporary extension (as per Providence) or a contract renewal (as per Cigna).
For the moment, Benefit MiMS is going to classify this contract negotiation as “Active – Extended.”
Patients should experience no disruptions in coverage during September.

Providence Health & Services and Cigna are negotiating a new reimbursement contract for commercial health insurance plans across Washington state. If the parties fail to reach an agreement by August 31, 2026, all Providence and Providence Swedish facilities, clinics, and employed physicians in Washington will transition to out-of-network status starting September 1, 2026.
This negotiation strictly impacts commercial plans (both employer-sponsored group plans and individual insurance). Government-funded programs, including Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid, are excluded from this dispute and will not face network disruptions.

- Providence St. Mary Medical Center (Walla Walla)
- Providence St. Peter Hospital (Olympia)
- Providence Swedish Ballard (Seattle)
- Providence Swedish Cherry Hill (Seattle)
- Providence Swedish Edmonds (Edmonds)
- Providence Swedish First Hill (Seattle)
