According to a press release, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (R-PA8) has written a letter to the CEOs of Lehigh Valley Health Network and UnitedHealthcare, requesting meetings and a status update about their current provider network negotiations.
Lehigh Valley Health Network’s contract with UnitedHealthcare ended on April 26, 2026, affecting an estimated 50,000 patients. Negotiations have reportedly stalled.
The letter states, in part:
Both of your organizations serve tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians and have a responsibility to ensure patients are not used as leverage in negotiations. Healthcare decisions should be driven by what is best for patients, not by prolonged disputes that create uncertainty and financial hardship for the very people your organizations are meant to serve.
I urge both parties to immediately resume meaningful negotiations and work toward a resolution that restores in-network access for affected patients as quickly as possible. Every day this dispute continues, more families face unnecessary stress, confusion, and potential interruptions in care.

Around 50,000 patients are expected to be affected by the change.
Note that network access to Jefferson Health’s legacy hospitals, facilities and its physicians is not impacted by this change. Medicare Supplement plans are also not affected.
LVHN and United had been negotiating for more than two years.
