Brown University Health and UnitedHealthcare have announced that, without a contract agreement, Brown University Health physicians will be out-of-network for UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans, including Group Retiree plans, beginning July 1, 2026.
The following facilities and physician offices are affected:
- Brown Dermatology
- Brown Emergency Room
- Brown Health Medical Group – Lifespan Physician Group
- Brown Health Medical Group Primary Care – Coastal Medical
- Brown Medicine
- Brown Neurology
- Brown Surgical – University Surgical
- Brown Urology
- Miriam Hospital
- Newport
- Radiosurgery Center of Rhode Island
- Rhode Island Hospital
Negotiations are continuing. Both UnitedHealthcare and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office have created informational microsites for affected patients.
