Cigna vs UC Davis Health

UC Davis Health says its agreement with Cigna expires after June 30 and that, if no new deal is reached, the system “will no longer accept Cigna” beginning July 1.

UC Davis is part of a broader negotiations push by University of California health entities. Other UC medical centers, including UCSF and UCLA, have posted patient advisories saying they could also be treated as out-of-network by Cigna if contracts lapse on July 1, a sign that the dispute has systemwide implications.

Cigna has begun mailing reassignment notices to some HMO members and warned PPO patients their costs could jump if UC Davis providers are treated as out-of-network.
